do you remember the embroidery pieces scarlett made for us that i shared the other day? she’s never shown her work publicly, so i talked her into submitting them to our county fair exhibition. of course i submitted some of my art as well, and we both won in every category!!! 8 blue ribbons, 1 red and 1 white in total🤍 hopefully i can help get her embroidery work in a gallery next!

coming up on 6 years since we bought this magical piece of land on the Gulf Coast and my goodness has it been a roller coaster. sometimes it really truly does feel like a magical utopia. and other times it feels like everything is breaking, nothing is working right, and i start to wonder if it’s all really worth it. occasionally when i’ve had a hard day like this (or week😅) at @beakertopia - those times when i have to give this place all of my time&energy when i really don’t want to.. sometimes ill end the day by going to read some of our Hipcamp reviews and it sure makes me feel better 💓 here’s a few faves i just read

thank god i spent my early 20s in the jungle and learned how to tend to the land, handle tools, handle myself, and be comfortable getting absolutely filthy w the earth🌱 after 2 long days of nonstop clean-up, im happy to report that @beakertopia is in *decent* shape once again 😅 when i took my first look outside Saturday morning i cried seeing how much work there was to be done. we got super lucky and didn’t have any major damage here, but it was emotional seeing the gardens that we’ve worked sooo hard on all torn up. and so much debris i thought it would take me at least a couple weeks to get this place in order. but today i was saved by an angel and we knocked out a ton of it! thank you Kent i’m so grateful for you 💖💓🩷

nobody really talks about this part of building your dream life. the unglamorous, exhausting days that seem to occur much more often than i had ever anticipated when embarking on this journey. i spent the whole day cleaning up @beakertopia and it’s still a big mess, but i’m so incredibly grateful it wasn’t any worse than it was. thinking about our friends to the east who didn’t fare as well, really hoping everyone is okay over there🙏

one thing you may not know about me is that i am, unfortunately, one of those annoying “steps” people. i got to get my steps in baby!! for a few years now, one of my daily rituals/goals has been getting 10,000-15,000 steps, and i nearly always achieve that, but it does take a lot of discipline. as an artist, a big portion of my work requires me to be sitting down, sitting still for long stints of time. hitting this goal takes effort & intention most days because i don’t naturally get that many steps from my lifestyle. WELL. today i got around 30,000 steps without even trying, just making hurricane preparations all day! think that might be my new record, so thanks for that, Isaias 😂 thank god for my @suavsshoes

bonus points for all those little things you don’t think about! here i’ll start: get a lighter. you can own 37 candles and still somehow have no way to light them 🙃 ask me how i know lol
